Instructions

Ingredients:

  • TP Rolls (sanitized)

  • Yarn

  • You will also need scissors and tape (glue optional).

  1. Decide whether you want to divide the TP roll into two or three sections. Two will make them more of arm cuffs, while three will feel more like bracelets. You should have enough yarn to make at least 2-3 items, but an extra TP roll is included in case there’s a goof in the cutting. Or you can try both 2 and 3 and see which one you like best.

  2. Once you have the roll cut, grab your yarn.

  3. Line up the end of the yarn on one of the short edges of the TP roll on the inside, and secure with a piece of tape.

  4. Start wrapping. You want to make the wraps as tight as possible, without bending the cardboard. I tend to wrap widely, and then slide the strands tight, which spreads the pressure on the cardboard out more, but do it however is most comfortable to you.

  5. You can alternate yarn if you want, but each cut should be made so you can secure the ends on the inside where they are less visible.

  6. When you reach the end of the cardboard, securing the second end will require a little coordination. You are going to want to tape on the inside again, but you are also going to want to push the sticky sides of the tape under the yarn. You should be able to lift a couple of strands at a time with one hand, and roll the tape end under them with the other. Ask for another person’s assistance if you are having difficulty and could use another pair of hands. You could also use a dab of glue if you want it to be more secure.

  7. Once you are done wrapping, you have the option to weave in yarn perpendicular to the wrapping. You can use a needle if you have one, or wrap the end of the yarn in a piece of tape so it is stiff and use that end as a makeshift needle. You can secure the ends with tape if you want, or just stick the ends under enough wrapped strands so they are not visible.

  8. Show of your yarn bling to your friends!

Instructions

Ingredients:

  • 2 or 3 balloons

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • Paper bowl, folded

  • Empty bottle

You will also need scissors, water, a spoon, and a fork.

  1. Unfold your paper bowl.

  2. The stress ball mixture is a 2:1 ratio of cornstarch to water. In your bowl, use the spoon to add two scoops of cornstarch, then add one scoop of water. It doesn’t matter how big the spoon is, as long as you keep the 2:1 ratio. Use the fork to gently whisk it together.  Repeat adding cornstarch and water and whisking until you have used up all the cornstarch or your bowl is â…” full.

  3. Using one of the creases in the bowl, pour the mixture into the bottle.

  4. Blow up one of the balloons and gently peel the opening onto the top of the bottle. Invert until the balloon is as full as you want, or the bottle is empty, whichever comes first. Pinch the neck of the balloon right above the cornstarch mixture to prevent it from leaking back into the bottle, and peel the balloon off the bottle.

  5. Taking care not to let air in, tie a knot in the balloon, make sure it is as tight as possible, and then cut off the excess balloon tail.

  6. Choose a second balloon. Cut off the neck and end of the balloon. Gently wrap the balloon around the stress ball, making sure the knot portion of the first balloon is covered by the center of the second balloon.

  7. Optional: Take a third balloon and cut off the neck and end. Fold the balloon into quarters. Cut out small designs (like making a paper snowflake). Unfold and place over your stress ball.

  8. Enjoy your new chill out tool!

Ingredients:

  • Plastic bottle with cap

  • Plastic tablecloth, white

  • Coin battery

  • LED diodes, 2

  • Stretchy cord

  • Paper clip

You will also need scissors and clear tape (hot-glue optional)

Make a Double Glowie

  1. Tape an LED diode to a battery and you’ve made a “Glowie.” Sandwich a battery between the legs of an LED diode. Make sure the LED’s longer, positive (+) leg is on the smooth, positive (+) side of the battery, and its shorter, negative (–) leg is on the bumpy, negative (–) side of the battery. The LED should light right up. If it doesn’t, flip the battery and try again.

  2. Add another LED diode, and you have a “Double Glowie”. Tape the LED legs and battery tightly together with a piece of clear tape.

Make the Ghost

  1. With scissors, carefully cut off the top of the bottle (with the bottle cap on!), just below the neck.

  2. To make the eyes, tape or hot-glue the double Glowie on top of the bottle cap.

  3. Flip the bottle-cap assembly upside down and insert it into the cut opening in the bottle. The cap—with glowing LED eyes attached—will be inside. Tape the cap in place, making sure it doesn’t fall into the bottle.

  4. Poke two small holes in the top of the cloth with a pointy end of the paper clip. Thread the stretchy cord through the holes and tie the ends in a knot, so the cloth is hanging from a loop. Then tape or hot-glue the knot to the top of the bottle and pull down the cloth so it covers the bottle.

  5. Now hang your Floating Ghost in a dark, scary place!

Ingredients:

  • Cardboard

  • Felt

  • Candies w/ Wrappers

  • Double-sided tape

  • Glue in jar

  • Paint brush

  • Plastic sticky cover

You will also need scissors (hot-glue optional)

  1. Add water to your container of glue so it comes almost to the top (don’t overfill). Mix with paintbrush. Now you have homemade Mod Podge.

  2. Cut your coaster shape out of cardboard packaging material (cereal box, etc).

  3. Flatten the candy wrappers by smoothing them gently against a flat surface.

  4. Cut shapes from your flattened wrappers to make the pattern for your coaster.

  5. Brush your cardboard with Mod Podge and carefully apply your wrappers.

  6. Add 2 or more layers of Mod Podge to seal

  7. Trace your coaster’s shape onto a piece of felt.  Cut out the felt and use double-sided tape, Mod Podge, or hot glue to secure it to the bottom of the coaster.

  8. Cover the surface with plastic sticky cover and trim.

  9. Now you have a nice, shiny place to rest your beverage!
